Human access to space continues to evolve聽beyond the International Space Station, with聽new missions to the Moon, NASA鈥檚 Lunar聽Gateway, and commercial space stations.聽Whenever humans are involved, environmental聽control and life support systems (ECLSS) must聽be in place to maintain a habitable breathing聽atmosphere and thermal environment. Moog聽has been producing hardware in support of聽NASA鈥檚 Orion Crew Module, specifically used聽in the cabin pressurization system and thermal control system. This hardware聽leverages Moog鈥檚 capabilities developing space-qualified valves to control gas and聽liquid media. Hardware covers the gas supply and distribution systems, along with聽the thermal control system.

Moog鈥檚 capabilities extend beyond components to system-level solutions,聽combining components with structures, plumbing, and electrical control to deliver聽an integrated and fully tested package that is able to be installed into the space聽vehicle system.
Moog鈥檚 low pressure ECLSS components include motorized, solenoid, and torque motoractuated valves to manage the distribution of breathing gas to the crew. Moderate聽pressure (100-145 psi) components support distribution to different ECLSS systems,聽while the low pressure (14.7 psi) components provide high volumetric flowrate gas to聽maintain cabin atmosphere.
Moog鈥檚 nitrogen and oxygen ECLSS components manage the supply of聽high-pressure gas for atmosphere control. Manual valves connected to聽tanks provide safe, controlled access to breathing gases. Motorized聽isolation valves allow remote actuation to control the flow of breathing聽gases to the system, feeding into pressure regulators that safely drop聽the high pressure stored gas to levels that support distribution into the聽crew environment.
